Similar to Open call #2, in this final open call we are looking for pilots that will take place in a real environment with end users actively involved. TagItSmart components and smart tags have to be used and have to represent a core component of the pilot implementation.
There are no prescribed or preferred industrial use cases - manufacturing use cases in all domains are welcome.
When it comes to the product passport topic, we are looking for proposals which will leverage TagItSmart functionality to create a product passport solution and validate it with a limited number of stakeholders/users. We are looking for the applicants interested in and capable of executing one or more of the following activities:
1. Category A: New use cases (Pilots) up to 9 Months: applicants that want to test and include TIS solutions in their products or services and particularly those with an existing business need, relevant product and infrastructure.
2. Category B: New extensions (Modules) up to 5 Months: applicants with information, databases, tools or applications for the whole supply chain of products (packaging, production, manufacturing, transportation, retail, consumer and recycling), that want to standardize, adapt and include TIS enablers and/or add new components that extend and improve functionality addressing preferably data privacy, security, Big Data, analytics and consumer engagement.
Note: In any of the aforementioned categories of the 3rd Open Call, organisations may submit more than one applications, however only one may be funded
In Open Call 3, we are targeting two very specific areas and applications: Industrial Internet (IIoT, Industry 4.0) and innovative and opportunistic concepts and models that should facilitate and hasten a European product passport.
For the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), we want focus on scale and real world business uptake.
For the product passport, we want innovative models that use all available European current eID integration to bring the product passport as a de facto standard and to influence EP policy makers to put it on the same table as Digital Single Market.
Additionally, we want to integrate the TIS platform with existing product databases in order to bootstrap the product passport.

Important Notes
For a category A proposal - can a research institute be sole applicant or do you advise having an SME partner?
Category A implies first and most important that the participants have the infrastructure to pilot a new use case and show the added business value it brings to their product/service line.
From that point of view, a sole research institute without a business/SME partner will probably be quite difficult to showcase such added business value.
We would rather see category B as more fit for sole research institutes.
Would you be able to provide feedback on where the TagItSmart consortium partners can provide support?
We can provide feedback on general direction of the planned proposal. In addition to the email based feedback, you can also planned Information moments we organize in London, Ghent, Mallorca and Novi Sad. The helpdesk will give further support.
